Position Summary 

The ideal candidate will have the primary responsibility in authorizing member’s medical bills in accordance with the Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM) guidelines.  They must have some familiarity with medical bill processing operations, highly detailed with focus and attention in maintaining accuracy of medical information.

Essential Job Functions

  • Eagerness and ability to learn and take initiative on a variety of tasks.
  • Verify eligibility in accordance with CHM’s guidelines, policies, and definitions.
  • Input member information and update information in the system
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of patient information to maintain an error rate less than 1%
  • Authorize medical needs/incidents with attention to detail in mind.
  • Collaborate with other departments and staff members to rectify member information. 
  • Respond to correspondence from members or staff within a 24-48 turnaround time.
  • Perform thorough checks on CHM memberships to identify key factors of eligibility.
  • Effectively communicate with members regarding membership status
  • Multitask and prioritize daily tasks accordingly.
  • Maintains an approachable and appropriate attitude when interacting with staff members in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Supports the vision and culture of the organization.
  • Adheres to the Employee Handbook and Policies and Procedures 

Experience Requirements 

  • Required: High school diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam
  • Medical background preferred but not required.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to recognize, research and maintain accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Able to operate a PC, including working with information systems/applications.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office programs (I.e., Outlook, Word, Excel & Access)
  • Experience operating routine office equipment (i.e., faxes, copy machines, printers, multi-line telephones, etc.)
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by management.
