Job Summary

The Compensation Specialist plays a key role in supporting CHM’s compensation and incentive programs by ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational goals and values. Working closely with HR, Finance and Senior leadership, this role helps review, process and evaluate CHM’s variable pay plans. The Specialist will ensure these programs are administered with excellence, while providing insights and recommendations to enhance effectiveness, stewardship, and employee engagement across the ministry.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Gathers and prepares necessary data to review, calculate, and process approved variable pay and incentive programs across CHM.
  • Ensures timely, accurate, and compliant processing of all incentive and compensation-related activities.
  • Utilizes market data and internal compensation frameworks to verify compliance with established pay ranges and structures for each position.
  • Collaborates with the HRIS specialist to ensure accurate compensation data for integrity and confidentiality of information.
  • Collaborates with HR leadership and Vertical Leaders to communicate incentive program details and ensure shared understanding across teams.
  • Monitors and maintains current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and compensation documentation to ensure readiness for auditing and legal compliance.
  • Provides responsive support and clear communication to leaders regarding compensation or incentive program questions.
  • Analyzes market-based compensation data and trends to support pay decisions and program competitiveness.
  • Researches and evaluates effective pay and incentive practices to identify opportunities for improved ROI, recommending enhancements as appropriate.
  • Reviews post-cycle results of incentive programs to assess effectiveness, equity, and impact, providing recommendations for future program improvements.
  • Provides feedback and insights to strengthen existing compensation programs and support alignment with CHM’s mission and financial stewardship goals.
  • Serves as backup for payroll processing to ensure continuity and operational support when needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret and work with compensation data to ensure accuracy and alignment with established structures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS or payroll systems preferred.
  • Understanding of compensation principles, pay structures, and related HR compliance practices.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Finance related field preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a compensation or data analyst
