How to easily explain CHM

By Christian Healthcare Ministries

Without the normal terminology of traditional insurance, trying to explain CHM to your friends and family might feel like trying to explain something otherworldly. If it’s not insurance, what is it? What do you mean there’s no provider network? No copays or deductibles? How does it even work?

However, explaining what CHM is and how the ministry works can be as easy as 1-2-3.

  1. Christians come together for the purpose of helping each other with hefty medical costs. By paying a set amount each month, these funds help Christians across the world pay their medical bills.
  2. You submit your medical bills. There’s no provider network, so you as a member can visit whichever doctor is best for you. All eligibility is explained in the CHM Guidelines so you always know what can be shared.
  3. You receive your funds for your eligible medical bills and pay your providers or reimburse yourself for any payments you’ve already made. It’s that easy!

Since CHM isn’t insurance, your friends and family may feel like there’s no point of reference. But if you turn to Acts 2 and 4, you’ll see the early Church’s example that we mirror now: “And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them” [Acts 33-34 ESV]. What we do is rooted in Scripture, and it works. You’re just one example of that!

As you tell your friends about CHM, don’t forget to take advantage of Refer-a-Friend. For each friend who joins CHM and pays their third monthly contribution, you’ll earn a credit that you can apply to your monthly contributions or your Personal Responsibility. Alternatively, ask your friend to simply list your member number on their membership application.
