Position Summary

The Member Communications Specialist supports the functions of the Member Communications department by researching, writing, proofreading, and editing content for member communications that is delivered through a variety of channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares content within brand and editorial standards for review by the Member Communications Senior Editor and relevant departments.
  • Assists in determining the voice, tone and topics for member communications through data and collaboration with other relevant teams.
  • Tailors content to member audience segments when appropriate.
  • Brainstorms with team members and other departments to generate fresh ideas that contribute to member education, member engagement and member retention.
  • Participates in recommending improvements to member communications tactics.
  • Provides weekly project updates to Member Communications Senior Editor and Director of Member Communications.
  • Engage with other departments to stay current on member communication needs.
  • Develops content that aligns with leadership requests for member communications.
  • Assists with auditing and updating recurring communications.
  • Proactively monitors member comments, posts and reviews and develops responses when necessary.
  • Assists in sourcing member testimonial content.
  • Manages and responds to shared email inboxes.
  • May serve as a Member Communications delegate for ministry-wide and cross-functional projects.
  • May specialize in communication applications to deliver messaging, such as VoterVoice, BrightEdge, Survey Monkey or Quadient Inspire.
  • Use artificial intelligence tools to help inform the clearest and most concise content.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, writing or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of writing or communications experience.
  • Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or faith-based organizations is preferred.
  • Experience with Associated Press (AP) Style.
