Independent accreditation protects you

In order to accomplish our mission of glorifying God through service to our members, we believe Christian Healthcare Ministries, Inc., (the Ministry) must be accountable and transparent and must avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety in all its operations, communications, and dealings.

The facts are clear: independent accreditation stands apart.

A ministry or organization is legitimately accredited if it passes an intense, comprehensive operational review by a reliable, third-party body of experts. The tougher the accreditation review for health cost sharing ministries, the better it is for the people it serves. That’s why we prioritized, sought, and earned the first and only independent accreditation in the nation for health cost sharing ministries.

How we’re leading the industry

As America’s first and longest-serving health cost sharing ministry, we make choices that prioritize integrity.

That’s why we earned third-party accreditation from Demotech, a financial analysis firm that principally serves insurance companies by providing Financial Stability Ratings®.

Demotech developed its Faith-based Sharing Review™ (F^bSR) program to assess HCSMs in 30 different areas of financial and organizational operation. CHM scored 95 out of a possible 100 points on the F^bSR and was the first health cost sharing ministry in the nation to do so.

Our actions don’t stop there. We consistently exceed industry standards:

• Annual audit by independent accounting firm
• We’ve taken care of 100 percent of members’ eligible medical bills since 1981

Additional ways CHM protects you

• CHM doesn’t use insurance agents or third-party vendors in member recruitment. As a voluntary cost sharing ministry, not health insurance, CHM doesn’t contract with, incentivize, or authorize insurance agents to “sell” CHM to prospective members. 
• Membership costs are not affected by age or health status.
• When a member joins CHM, they fully join the ministry. CHM does not pro-rate medical bill reimbursements to members based on the amount of monthly contributions sent to CHM but shares the full amount at the earliest possible time.

• CHM complies with Sarbanes-Oxley by annually filing a Form 990 with the Internal Revenue Service. Additionally, CHM’s operational model enables it to be audited annually by an independent auditing firm, with audit results made available upon request.
