JOB SUMMARY
The Data Governance Coordinator I supports CHM’s Data Governance program through day-to-day operational activities including data catalog maintenance, business glossary development, and governance intake coordination. This entry-level role builds a foundational understanding of how data governance creates trust in CHM’s data assets and learns to work with data stewards across the organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow their data governance expertise in a mission-driven environment committed to responsible data management.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and update CHM’s data catalog, ensuring accuracy of metadata, data asset descriptions, and ownership assignments.
- Support the development and upkeep of the business glossary and data dictionaries, ensuring terms are consistently defined and approved.
- Coordinate data governance intake requests, tracking items through the governance workflow and following up to ensure timely resolution.
- Assist with data quality monitoring — logging issues, tracking remediation status, and following up with data stewards to drive closure.
- Prepare routine governance reports and meeting materials for DG program reviews and stakeholder communications.
- Support stakeholder onboarding to governance tools and processes, helping data stewards understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Document governance procedures, decisions, and meeting notes to support program continuity and institutional knowledge.
- Collaborate with IT, database engineering, and business teams to support governance adoption and cross-functional data initiatives.
- Ensure governance activities align with CHM’s organizational privacy policies, HIPAA requirements, and data security standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of governance processes by documenting workflows and identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and consistency.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
