Editor’s note: This information was published in a previous issue of Heartfelt Magazine, CHM’s monthly magazine that provides CHM membership-related tips and tricks, medical advice from doctors, testimonies from CHM members and more. Please refer to the CHM Guidelines and applicable web pages for the most up-to-date information regarding CHM membership, sharing eligibility and ministry news.
As a CHM member, there is nothing you must do during the health insurance open enrollment period. CHM is not insurance, and your CHM membership continues seamlessly from year to year without the need to take any action during open enrollment.
But here’s what you can do during this time:
1. Tell your friends about CHM. While the idea of how to pay for medical bills is on everyone’s mind, this might be a good time to mention CHM to a fellow Christian who is looking for biblical, compassionate and faithful health cost sharing assistance. Doing so will earn you a free month of membership when your friend includes on his or her application your name and member number and then submits their third gift amount.
2. Remember that while healthcare is often researched during open enrollment, Christians are free to join the ministry at any point throughout the year. Each additional member provides greater opportunity for CHM members to “Carry each other’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
3. Make use of your free Member Portal account. Use the Member Portal to update addresses, make payments, view your billing history, submit medical bills for sharing, and more. You can also use helpful Bring-a-Friend tools within the Member Portal to share the ministry with friends and family. Visit your Member Portal here!
*Editor’s note: Christian Healthcare Ministries is a federally certified exemption under the Affordable Care Act; therefore, CHM members aren’t penalized for their CHM membership. You may find information about CHM’s eligibility here.
