Last November I had a terrible fall down the last portion of my basement stairs. In the moments following, I cried out to Jesus for courage and strength to maneuver my body and observe my shattered left leg. When the paramedics arrived, they were amazed that I’d crawled up the stairs to get my phone. As they set the bone in a temporary splint, they announced I’d undeniably need surgery.
I wept—not only from the physical pain, but also from both relief and apprehension. I knew that my CHM Gold membership would take care of the eligible medical expenses, but I also knew the work involved to wade through my medical bills, secure self-pay discounts, and upload the bills to the Member Portal.
I’ve been a CHM member since 1996, and prior to this injury had only submitted bills a handful of times. Previously, the process was rather overwhelming. My husband and I are older, and scanning and uploading documents is not a skill we’ve often needed.
But this time I learned my bills can now be uploaded through my phone! I was heartened by this. However, my first and second attempts failed. I called CHM and received patient and gracious concern, help, and prayer. They gave me other options, including mailing me printed copies of the forms to be returned. Before the mailed forms arrived, I prayed and submitted the information through my phone again—with success! I was relieved. It’s made the process so much simpler to upload each bill as I received it.
Through the process, I called CHM several times and each time felt as though I’d talked and prayed with a friend who cared. I’m thankful for the Christlikeness in every interaction. CHM staff prayed from hearts that clearly know our Lord Jesus and genuinely care.
My many medical bills—including the physical therapy needed to help me walk again—were all satisfied by the generous, faithful sharing of the CHM family. Thank you for your faithfulness to give. I’m blessed to be part of this caring body of believers!
