Name one thing you believe everyone should try at least once. Going on a mission trip or traveling to another country. No matter the location, experiencing another culture is life-changing.

What hobbies you would pursue if you had unlimited time and resources? Scuba diving, learning a second language, polishing up my piano-playing skills (which are close to extinct) and starting a blog.

What household chore do you dislike? Dusting! As a child, dusting the entire house was my assigned chore.

What is something you’d like CHM members to know? I want them to know they’re not alone. Other members—and even our staff—are likely experiencing similar pain or joy. Most importantly, we are praying for you. That’s one of the blessings of Christian community, especially the CHM family.

What was your first job? When I was 15 I worked on the weekends as a dishwasher for a small family restaurant. It was their busiest time of the week because they served a breakfast buffet. I think that explains why I’m not enthusiastic about washing dishes these days.

Name three of your favorite movies. I’m a huge Rocky fan, which is why our middle son’s name is Rocky. Rocky, Rocky II and Rocky IV are my all-time favorites.

What’s your favorite Bible passage and why? Deuteronomy 31:6 reminds me that we need to rely on God instead of ourselves when facing challenges. If life was easy, there would be no reason to need strength or courage and we’d miss out on so many wonderful chances to know the Lord more intimately. The end of that verse is reassurance that no matter what situation we face, God will be with us every step of the way.

What are you grateful for? First, I’m most thankful for my salvation. Second, I’m grateful for my beautiful and God-loving wife, Brooke, and our six children. As you can imagine, there’s never a dull moment at our house!
